Why I blog (redux)
Greetings, fellow bloggers! This is my second shot at Blogging 101 since my first attempt felt incomplete. I wish to get better at this whole enterprise. Thanks, Michelle for these questions to make an introduction of myself. –roc,sj
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
Six months ago, Liturgy Training Publications published my first book. Its ostensibly about liturgical participation. But, more: it’s about the human journey to mature. I intend it mainly for those who wish to follow Christ, but have heard about its value from others without that same intent. I wish to put the ideas that are the foundation of the book out there for people to read, watch (videos), or hear (audio homilies) and comment upon. Here’s the book cover FYI.
I’m not here to push the book, but to talk about important things with folks. Sharing my thoughts may influence others, but I learn a lot through discussion and comment.
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
I’ve spoken (on video) about topics like “The Burden of Perfectionism,” “How Do We Approach God?,” “The Back Door to Hell / Self-Obsession.” I plan a series to delve deeper into each chapter of my book. I also preach on the Roman Catholic Lectionary with this year’s focus on the gospel of Mark. Here’s a link to my last video and a link to last week’s homily, FYI.
I just noticed the rules about not posting videos for blogging 101… Please overlook these.

- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
I’d like to be in conversation with folks who are looking to go deeper in their lives, Catholic, Christian, or not.
