Roc Homily – Sixteenth Sunday Ordinary Time 2015
Happy Weekend! I could offer myself as the new and improved version of “shepherds” in the face of the the clergy sexual abuse scandal and the behavior of our shepherds. However, there is something that links all of us and addresses our depths: “Do I really want a shepherd?” When we get down to it, do you really want a shepherd? We are all like sheep without a shepherd in our aversion to someone else leading us.
Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time (7:30 am Sunday)
Homily by Roc O’Connor, SJ, associate pastor of the Church of the Gesu (July 12, 2015)
Mark 6:30-34 When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
