5th of Easter – Mothers’ Day & the Place of Encounter

Happy Mother’s Day to all who so celebrate today!  It seems to me that moms give so much and probably don’t receive enough back from those whom they love.

For any moms whose approach to life resembles mine – there is NEVER enough – this is for you.

The gospel of John, I propose, speaks first about Jesus’ invitation to encounter, contemplatively, Jesus dwelling in the heart of God.  This is the very place Jesus prepares for all of us.

It’s easy and so wonderful to encounter the Lord in the delightful moments of life.  I’m all for it!

What about the rest of life?  What about the joys and sorrows of life?

I propose that especially in these places, the places we typically reject, Christ dwells there.  Our part, I believe, is to seek and find the Lord there.
