Merry Christmas! A Christmas Eve Homily for the Christmas Season…
Happy New Year to you all! And, since it is still the Christmas season (AHEM!), even though we’re constantly told it was over the day after Christmas sales ended, Merry Christmas!
I was delighted to be asked to preside at the midnight Mass for the School Sisters of St. Francis (at 6:30 pm!). And wish to share that homily with you.
Consider it also a downpayment on sharing about the graces I received on retreat at the end of Advent. It has influenced and continues to shape my understanding of God in our lives:
The Spirit of God hovered over the waters at the beginning of creation and continues to hover over the void, the chaos, the emptiness of life. Christ’s birth in Bethlehem is the down-payment on this – for what we seek is a new heavens and a new earth!
The SSSFs record the whole Mass, so should you wish to take in the whole thing, you can do that at this URL. OR should you wish to hear the gospel and the homily only, please go to the 57 minute 10 second mark on the video stream.
